Course Overview
Advancing into complex maternity care, this semester strengthens obstetric and neonatal competencies by focusing on critical anatomy, emergency equipment, step-wise emergency responses, and visual decision points.
Learners gain clarity and confidence in managing high-risk and emergency situations within maternity and neonatal units.
Course Objectives
At the end of the course completion, learners will be able to:
- Analyze obstetric and neonatal conditions requiring emergency care.
- Assist in managing high-risk maternal and newborn cases.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation under supervision.
- Educate families on family planning and maternal health services.

Post abortion care & counseling
Counseling antenatal women for complication readiness
Mechanism of labour – abnormal (Shoulder dystocia)
Assisting in the conduction of abnormal vaginal deliveries and caesarean section
Management of complications during pregnancy/labour/postpartum
Administration of Inj. Magnesium sulphate
Starting and maintaining an oxytocin drip for PPH
Management of PPH – Bimanual compression of uterus
Management of PPH – Balloon tamponade
